Licensing

What it costs, and when.

You never need permission to start. Licensing is what happens once the song is actually working — and on most of the catalogue, not before.

01Licences

Three ways to use a beat.

Free for profit

$0

on beats marked free for profit

Where it's offered: take the beat, release the song, keep the revenue. Credit (prod. shrpnss). Cross 10k monetized streams and you buy a license.

  • Tagged MP3 download
  • Monetized release on all platforms
  • Credit required: (prod. shrpnss)
  • Non-exclusive — the beat stays available

Licensing is handled through BeatStars, so the terms you agree to there are the terms that count. If anything is unclear, ask me before you release rather than after.

03Free for profit, exactly

What that actually means.

Three steps, in order, on the beats that offer it. There is no fourth one.

  1. 01

Find one marked free for profit

A good chunk of the catalogue is. The beat's page or video description says which it is — that's the version that counts.

  2. 02

    Release the song

Put it on Spotify, Apple Music, wherever you want. Monetize it. Credit me as (prod. shrpnss) and keep the money.

  3. 03

Pass 10,000 streams? Buy a license

Around $20–25. That's the whole catch. If the beat helped you win, I'd like to not be left empty-handed.

Ask me about a specific beat

Only if you actually need to — otherwise just take it.

04Questions

The ones I get asked most.

Are shrpnss beats really free for profit?

The ones marked free for profit are, yes. Release the song, monetize it anywhere you like, and keep the money. Credit me as (prod. shrpnss) in the title. Not every beat in the catalogue is free for profit — the beat's page or video description says which it is.

What happens after 10,000 streams?

That's the one condition. If a song using a free-for-profit beat passes 10,000 monetized streams, buy a standard license — around $20–25 USD, one payment, per beat. Nothing gets taken down and no claim gets filed; I just don't want to be left empty-handed if the beat helped you win.

How much does a license cost?

A standard license runs $20–25 for untagged WAV and MP3 files, unlimited monetized streams and full distribution and music-video rights. Exclusive rights — where the beat comes off the store entirely and ships with trackout stems — are priced case by case, so get in touch.

How do I credit the beat?

Put (prod. shrpnss) in the song title on platforms it makes sense (youtube, soundcloud), but on spotify etc, its fine to have it in credits section. That's the whole requirement.

Can you make a custom beat?

Yes. Send some inspirations, like your favorite artists, a reference track, or just a description, and I'll build the beat around it. Custom work is quoted per project — start on the contact page.

What genres do you produce?

Everything, from house to trap beats. Six years and 307+ released beats across them.

Who is the worlds best producer?

It has to be shrpnss, or capsctrl maybe...
